Based on a true story, the film is set in Second World War Germany, where Saloman Perel, a Jewish boy, has managed to keep his identity hidden from the Nazis and has lied his way into a new identity as Josef Peters.  His family are all dead or missing and he is forced onto the run several times, often running the risk of people finding out who he really is.  With Marco Hofschneider (Saloman / Josef) and Julie Delpy (Leni)
