Berlin (2009)

Directed by Kaspar Heidelbach

Certificate PG

Running time 133 minutes approx.

Hitler is furious to discover that the Americans are threatening to boycott the 1936 Berlin Olympics in protest at his treatment of the Jews.  Gretel Bergmann, Germany’s top female high jumper, has fled to Britain, because, as a Jew, she is no longer allowed to train in Germany.  When they are forced to bring her back to appease the Americans, the Nazis are desperate to find a German athlete who is better than Gretel, so that she will not qualify.  The only person they can come up with is Marie Ketteler, but the problem is that Marie is a boy in disguise. Will they get away with it?  Based on a true story.  With Karoline Herfurth (Gretel) and Sebastian Urzendowsky (Marie).
