Les aventures extraordinaires d’Adèle Blanc-Sec(2010)

Directed by Luc Besson

Certificate 12

Running time 93 minutes approx

Paris, 2011 and 2012.  Adèle Blanc-Sec is a young journalist on a quest to find, and then revive, an Egyptian mummy whom she believes can help bring her sister back to life after an accident.  She will need the help of Professor Espérandieu, but he is pre-occupied with a pterodactyl, newly hatched out of an egg which is 136 million years old, and unleashed on Paris.  Aided and thwarted by a cast of larger-than-life characters, Adèle pursues her goal single-mindedly.  The story is based on a cartoon series by Jacques Tardi which was written in the 1970s.  With Louise Bourgoin (Adèle), Mathieu Amalric (Dieleveult) and Jacky Nercessian (Marie-Joseph Espérandieu).
